A giant, Sleeping or dead is an unusual piece for me. Normally my artwork is either entirely from my imagination or drawn on location and a faithful rendering of something real. This was an interpretation of a sight glimpsed from the passenger seat of our car while traveling up the A3M. A dark mass in a stand of trees that looked like a body lying on the ground. My mind got to work on it and this was the finished piece. Not exactly an outdoor sketch.
These watercolours are from my first visit to the Wickham Festival. I attend as part of an outreach with the local Methodist Churches and have had an amazing time. I just paint or draw little trading card size pictures and give them away. The payback for me is I get to have some great conversations with some very lovely, chilled and open people.
These were images drawn during a holiday on the Norfolk Broads. The majority were drawn very rapidly as we passed through the landscape at an intoxicating 4 miles an hour. The animals and birds were drawn at Thrigby Hall, a superb small zoo that seems to really do a good job of combining animal welfare and visitor experience. Highly recommended if you find yourself in Norfolk at any time.
